Have you ever wanted to be a designer? Have you sometimes looked at expensive clothing brands and wished that you could have a piece like them? Well... here is your chance to be the designer and stitcher of your own unique shirt. In this workshop you will be provided with a soft, organic cotton long-sleeved shirt (ethically sourced) as well as a curated collection of florals and textiles to use in your design. Throughout the day we will use the "flower to flower" concept as the basis of an organic process of adornment. We will use a variety of easy stitches, varied threads and collage techniques to build interest and colour, as much or as little as you aesthetically like. No previous experience is needed - walk in with nothing, and walk out with a unique shirt that will be the envy of your friends.
- Kate Cunich
Kate is an Australian contemporary textile artist. She tells stories through the curation, collage and embellishment of an eclectic combination of fabric, trims and treasures. Kate uses a "one flower at a time" approach to build textile "gardens" that celebrate colour, texture and layers, always celebrating and acknowledging the hands of others in the making of both vintage and cultural pieces. Kate's joy is sitting around a table of like-minds, stitching and creating while connecting through conversation and a shared love of making. She now travels extensively in order to share this joy with as many as she can, and in 2026 is collaborating with Fleur Woods in addition to her solo workshops.
